Speaker Biography


Indra Utoyo, Chief Innovation & Strategy Officer, Telkom Indonesia

INDRA UTOYO was born in Bandung, 17th February 1962. He is a telecommunications engineer, graduated from Bandung Institute of Technology in 1985 (with Dean Honour). He received his Master of Science in Communication and Signal Processing from Imperial College, University of London, London UK in 1994.

He has been working for PT. Telekomunikasi Indonesia, Tbk (TELKOM) since 1986. TELKOM is the main operator for telecommunication service in Indonesia. Some of the highlights;

During 1986-1993, He has been assigned as IT system analyst, and project manager for a number of MIS projects in TELKOM.

During his study in UK 1993-1995, He has also experienced to have work attachment program at Cable & Wireless in Bracknel, London for 6 months.

In 1995-1996, He initiated Research and Development of multimedia and broadband services at R&D Division, the initiator of development of TELKOMNet (TELKOM’s Multimedia and Internet Service Platform).
During 2000-2004 He is also initiated the development and implementation of TELKOM’s B2B Commerce, and e

Business initiatives.
Starting 2006 He has been leading IT Transformation initiative, namely INFUSION, to consolidate, standardize, and integrate  IT systems for OSS, Billing systems, CRM, and ERP, in pursue of lean, agile, and excellent business operation.

Since 2007, as TELKOM has become Telecommunication-Information-Media-Edutainment (TIME) provider, Indra has been leading and orchestrating the development of Digital and New Wave Businesses in TELKOM Group including e.g IT Managed Services & Data Center, Cloud Computing T-Cloud, e-payment Delima, e-Health Admedika, Digital Music Melon, Super Portal PlasaMSN, e-Commerce Plasa.Com, and IPTV Groovia.

In 2007, He created INDIGO Creative Nation, a TELKOM’s Group initiative to unleashing and nurturing digital creativity in Indonesia. One of the pillar is Indigo Digital Music Award (IDMA) which is the first of a kind in motivating artist and creator to the path of digital music era.

As part of Indigo initiatives, Indra has lead the development of Bandung Digital Valley as the first Digital Creative Incubation Centre in Indonesia which was launched in Dec 2011.
