Speaker Biography

 

Martin Harriman, New Business Development Director, Telefonica UK Limited

Martin joined Telefonica UK Limited in April 2012 as New Business Development Director responsible for driving scale in the areas of O2 Media, O2 Money, O2 Health, O2 Wifi, MVNO and M2M. He also has responsibility for Brand Innovation to create a pipeline of new ideas with the objective of advancing the relationship between the O2 brand and its customers.

Prior to joining Telefonica, Martin served as Executive Vice President of Ecosystem Development and Satellite Business for LightSquared.  Martin was responsible for satellite engineering, devices and chipset development, service applications, partner solutions, as well as IT and Back Office systems.

Before this Martin was one of the founder members of Augere, coming from Ericsson in Sweden where he held a number of senior executive positions including Senior Vice President Sales, Marketing & Business Development.
Prior to Ericsson, Martin was the Chief Marketing Officer of Marconi where he also had responsibility for Marconi’s Asia Pacific and Middle East businesses. He represented Marconi on the Executive of the UK Broadband Stakeholder Group and was also a director of Easynet, an early broadband pioneer, which was subsequently acquired by Sky. Before that he led one of BT’s Corporate Sales and Marketing teams.

Martin’s early career was with the Royal Navy, where he had a variety of appointments including time as a helicopter pilot, the Captain of a frigate, and a year’s secondment to the United Nations in Cambodia.

He has a degree in psychology and post-graduate degrees in History and Business Administration.
